I based this painting on 1 Kings 19. God spoke to Elijah only after he had RESTED and when he spoke it was in a GENTLE WHISPER, not in the earthquake or fire or mighty wind that God sent.

“After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face…”

I love that God shows His presence to Elijah not through his mighty acts, but his gentle, personal whisper.

This passage also made me reflect on how much rest and stillness is required to hear His voice.
If everything in the world continues to be busy and loud and we continue to walk around exhausted, how will we hear God?

My hope is that through this collection, you will seek the stillness and quiet that God invited us into to hear the gentle whisper of His presence. 💙
